Jim Morrison Lives. New Doors.

The Late Jim MorrisonChuck Dolan enlightens me that The Doors are back. Ok. Maybe Jim never made it out of that bathtub. And the groupies still make a mess of the Paris cemetery where Jim rests.

[…] not recommended as a place to hang out and drop acid to commune with Morrison's spirit, as the line of Gendarmes keeping vigil are never amused. Graffiti abounds, candle wax has dripped everywhere and it's a really sad sight. from the Hip Guide To Paris

Now his ex-bandmates won't let him rest in piece either. But original Doors Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger are teaming with ex-Police drummer Stewart Copeland to pick up the sticks where John Densmore left off and Cult vocalist Ian Astbury as the next(?) Jim Morrison. They're performing live on December 8th in Las Vegas – an important date per the website as it marks the birth of Morrison, John Lennon's death and the enlightenment of Buddha.

I hear a very gentle sound
Very near yet very far
Very soft, yeah, very clear
Come today, come today

What have they done to the earth?
What have they done to our fair sister?
Ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her
Stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn
And tied her with fences and dragged her down

I hear a very gentle sound
With your ear down to the ground
We want the world and we want it…
We want the world and we want it…
Now
Now?
Now!

Persian night, babe
See the light, babe
Save us!
Jesus!
Save us!
